How and what to repair a crack in the wall?

One crack, even a small one, can creep into a huge fault. And if during the repair such defects were found, to begin with, they are eliminated, so that after finishing the finish.

Cracks in the plaster

To close a crack in the plaster, first, the surface around is cleaned. The plaster is removed with any suitable tool, dust and dirt are brushed off, and then washed with water.

To eliminate cracks in the plaster, gypsum mixtures are used. The solution is mixed with water without the formation of lumps, put with a spatula on the wall. When dried, the gypsum expands, so the excess mixture should not be laid in the crack to prevent its further spread. After 6 hours, the wall is sanded with sandpaper.

The selection of material for filling a crack in a brick depends on where it is located, on the street or indoors. The preparatory phase includes the expansion of the crack and its cleaning. Manipulations are carried out in order to lay more solution.

Internal work is carried out using gypsum, external using polyurethane foam. Both materials are not laid in the wall with excess, as they expand when dried.

Drywall at the crack site is cleaned of dust, after the space is deepened using an office knife. The crack surface is primed to increase adhesion to the material.

You can close the crack with putty, and after drying it, sand it with sandpaper. To strengthen the joint, use fiberglass.

Concrete walls

Concrete indoors is covered with cement mixes. The crack is cleaned, washed, dried, and then mortar is laid. The dried area is cleaned.

If a through crack has formed in the concrete, it is blown through to begin with, then it is closed with foam. Inside, they putty with gypsum mixtures, and outside with a solution of cement and sand. Specialists use building glue to repair cracks.

Causes of Cracks

Even a small crack can cause big trouble if you do not notice it in time.

Here are the main causes of cracking:

  1. Shrinkage of a new building. Ideally, a box of foundation and walls should stand bare for about a year, so that with further construction, specialists corrected the defects. But developers often neglect these tips.
  2. Low quality of geodetic works. Often the foundation does not match the soil on which it stands.
